Voters Make Headlines
The Franklin News Foundation has developed a reputation for telling readers the facts – not a narrative that fits one worldview or another. This is done for one simple reason: a trust and respect for our readers.
That is why, as we enter election season, we are committed not to tell the story that politicians want to tell, but rather focus on the issues that matter to you and our readers.
In August 2023, Franklin News Foundation partnered with the nonpartisan polling and analytics firm Noble Predictive Insights (NPI) in order to gain meaningful insight into the political candidates and issues American voters care about.
As a result, we launched The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll.
Traditional national polls, with their limited respondent count of around 1,000, fail to capture the intricate dynamics within political parties. Instead, The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll encompassed 1,000 registered Republican voters, 1,000 registered Democrat voters, and 500 independent voters.
This pioneering solution provides an in-depth representation of voters’ opinions within their own self-identified party.
Understanding the true sentiments of registered voters is critically important to our readers because, just like you, they want to understand all voices and have an honest discussion about our country.
That is what we are delivering in our consistent polling.
The first series of questions launched last summer and led to 13 original stories published on TheCenterSquare.com, reporting exclusive insights on voters’ opinions over school choice, presidential match-ups, border issues, and more.
We replicated the poll again in the fall, leading to 16 poll-based stories, examining voters’ opinions on government spending, inflation, and the idea of age limits on politicians – among many other issues.
One key finding: Across all respondents, illegal immigration ranked as the second most concerning issue, second only to inflation.
These pieces exposed readers to a narrative they may have never seen without The Center Square’s reporting. The findings suggest that, as long as politicians focus on the issues that taxpayers care about most, the nation may not be as divided as many want Americans to think.
This has never been more important.
In January, we conducted a third poll that asked voters about their views on the Hamas-Israel conflict, as well as their opinions on the impeachment investigation of President Biden. The results of this poll and upcoming polls will continue to make headlines at The Center Square.
Your investment is what enables us to build enterprising programs such as The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll. Together, you and I are bringing American readers reliable, exclusive insights into the priorities voters will take with them to the polls this year.
