Video Content Expansion

The Center Square’s video focus has significantly expanded its audience by meeting evolving consumer-driven news demands.

The Center Square’s Morgan Sweeney covered President Trump’s Memorial Day visit to Arlington National Cemetery as a White House pool reporter.

Expanding into video production, The Center Square newswire demonstrates journalistic commitment to impactful, transparent reporting through both print and visual storytelling.  The Center Square began focusing on video in January and already has demonstrated dramatic audience expansion, meeting changing news-consumption demands on terms established by news consumers.

Regional Growth Trends

Video focused on legislative action in California achieved nearly 400% growth from January to April 2025, with 26,460 views in April.  We see our strategy working through both direct audience engagement and views on syndication sites, such as MSN.com, where California-focused content performs particularly well. Additionally, Pennsylvania content jumped 450% in the same period, including a video amplifying State Senator Anthony Williams (D) advocating for school choice.

Washington D.C. Impact

Real time video reporting from Washington D.C. saw 418,476 views in April – a testament to an editorial focus on high-impact legislative and policy content that resonates. Testing out the distribution of D.C. specific clips with key media partners, The Center Square video content is downloaded thousands of times by other outlets for use across social media, podcasts, and websites, demonstrating strong demand.

Mainstream Media Adoption

Delivering video content allows The Center Square’s reporting to be amplified by more media outlets at both the national and local levels. In May, Fox News programs, including “Gutfeld” and “The Five,” elevated our coverage on issues in Texas and California; while local TV stations in Pittsburgh, Seattle, New Orleans, and Grand Rapids - among others - pulled Center Square content to inform their audiences.

Viral Content Impact

The underlying impact of high-quality video production and distribution is an increased awareness of vital policy issues being discussed at the state and local levels. Video provides a direct and transparent look into these debates, creating increased engagement on key issues, including:

  • How states are implementing the dismantling of the Department of Education (18,000 views). Delivering video nationally, as well as breakdown reports in states such as Illinois, Washington, Pennsylvania, and others, The Center Square delivered an additional 73,800 views.
  • State level DOGE efforts, such as “IL finds $1 billion from state taxpayers going to NGOs” delivering 70,000 views.
  • Real-time coverage of key events, such as peaceful Christian protests in Seattle that turned violent   by counter-protestors. Delivering video reporting in real time, The Center Square drove more than 16,000 views across social platforms within 18 hours. This reach enabled news consumers to see the protests for themselves rather than relying on bias or misleading reports.

Early metrics speak to The Center Square’s expanding influence and our commitment to delivering taxpayer-focused reporting that drives meaningful discourse and policy change. None of this reach – and resulting growing impact – would be possible without our loyal readers and supporters.
